  1. So, my parents are a bit P.O.ed about the rehearsal thing - screws up their schedule. (Also, who on earth plans these things for school nights? Screws up *my* schedule.)

  2. Taylor- Having volunteered to run the Scholastic Art Awards for the last six years, I'm the one who made all the arrangements for this years ceremony, aside from running the rest of the program as well. It's hard to understand the scope of putting on an event like this. Here's a glimpse that may help you understand. A year ago I called the Newmark Theater to make arrangements for the 2011 ceremony, there were two dates available both on a school night. We took what was available because its what was best for the program. The rehearsal is necessary because we are dealing with 7th -12th grade students who all come from various backgrounds of comfort in front of crowds. We have spent $4000.00 renting the Newmark Theater to celebrate you and the other 200 Gold Key winners and we would like the ceremony to go as smoothly as possible.

Of course having all Gold Key students at the ceremony is ideal. However, it is optional. You are not required by anyone to attend. It is simply and opportunity for you and your family and friends to come celebrate your artistic accomplishments.

Please feel free to have your parents call or email if they or you would like further details on decision making and the program. I have spent hundreds of hours this year working on the program to make it the best it can be for all those involved.

  3. I'm sorry for being self-centered (and insensitive). I didn't realize what it took to get it set up and was focusing more on my troubles than anyone else's.

  4. Matt Shapiro told me he didn't know his picture was on the ticket. He wanted one of mine to hold onto, i couldn't give him one though because BOTH my parents are COMING
