AP Art Show a great success. NAHS Rock Stars

I can't think of a better way to end the year than the AP Art Showcase. The last few months have been the best ever for me at Lakeridge, sincerely. You have been a big part of that. Here are a few snap shots of the NAHS scholarship winners. Congrats!

We are not done yet! The invite from the Scholastic Art Magazine to do the feature classroom project to be published in Spring of 2012 is upon us. Who is in your group? What flower will you be abstracting? We don't have the luxury of time so start thinking and be ready to hit the ground running.

Those of you who are submitting an AP portfolio need to be uploading your images to the AP site. Remember.... GROWTH. That's the key word. You will also need to select your 5 quality pieces. The best of the best of your work.

We also need to complete the website for your concentration. The website is how your 'final' portfolio will be graded.

Lumberjack breakfast and axe throwing for seniors! TBA

You can get with this or you can get with that.....

Amy is going to be mortified that I have posted this picture on the blog but I'm just so proud of her I can't help myself. This is Amy and I at the Seattle Art Museum, her work is on display there, right behind us. Whoot!

Random picture of Kia Hamsters.

Things that are coming up...CCC Registration, AP Art Showcase, Senior Dinner Art, Local 14 Women''s Scholarship, Scholastic Art Magazine Project, LO Festival of Arts, Merit Awards, NAHS Scholarships, Graduation and Summer!!!!

I talked with the lady from Scholastic Arts Magazine and she is hoping that we will do the abstract paintings of natural objects. That issue comes out in the spring and is the 'highlighted' issue. I think we should help her out and do the paintings. It will be fun, we can work in small groups and then sell them at the Merit Awards ceremony to raise money for Japan. More news at 11.

Working hard or Hardly working?

Last month of craziness until we launch into our service project. We are going to do an art fundraiser for Japan. Should be good.

1. If you don't have your artwork and forms for the Congressional show they are due no later than Monday. Michael and Becky are your point people for that.

2. Andrew is missing a few essays, make sure you get those done by Monday.

3. If you are not working on art during class, which you should be, you can be working on matting your concentration pieces for the AP Art showcase. You will need to make labels, and an artists statement. Do not wait until the last minute to get this work done. Be prepared.

4. AP art showcase. Prep your work, set it up, enjoy, smile, sell your work, tear the show down. Bring dessert, for 10, at least.

5. The senior dinner is coming up. Seniors will need to have a piece of art ready, matted, etc on Friday April 29th. Think about what you might want to put in that show.

6. The Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts - for the first time ever two great things are happening! Work does not need to be framed, whaooo. Also, they will be collecting the work on June 10th before school gets out. Fabulous. There is prize money for work entered plus you have an opportunity to sell your work. I think it's $10 for 3 pieces plus they take a % of the sale. Anyway, keep a few of your good pieces to put in this show. Let's sweep the awards at the Festival of the Arts!

Spring Break is OVER

Spring break is over....well a few more hours and then we are all back at it. This time of year is always so exciting. All the news about college acceptances and scholarships coming in. Before you get to excited about the end we have a few things left to get finished!

We will have a concentration check this week. Those people who did not have their work critiqued last time will have it critiqued this time.

Don't forget about the congressional art show. Bring in your work for Becky and Michael. They are in charge of that dog and pony show.

Talk to Andrew and bring in your paperwork for his project. I'll start working with Seniors on their portfolios for this as well.

Marie Walsh - We should be close to being done with the juniors interested in this. If not lets get that done so we can send them in by the 1st.

Update your blogs and make a comment or two on one of your classmates pages.

Can't wait to see you all tomorrow. Ms. McB
